New media refers to on-demand access to content any time, anywhere, on any digital device, as well as interactive user feedback, creative participation and community formation around the media content. Another important promise of new media is the “democratization” of the creation, publishing, distribution and consumption of media content. Another aspect of new media is the real-time generation of new, unregulated content. Some examples of new media are Internet, websites, computer multimedia, video games, and so on. New Media not includes television, magazines, newspapers and books.
How New Media can be relationed with my studies field?
I’m studying Corporate Marketing and Communication, the New Media is very important for me because my course encompasses two things Marketing and Communication. One of the objectives of New Media is communicate, to get information to people. For Marketing that is very important, because is supposes that everything is physical, like a book or a magazine will cease to exist over time with the technological advancement, everything is going to be digital, and all areas are bet in the digital age, digital marketing in particular.
While marketing new media used to communicate using the internet such as online questionnaires, online ads, emails and so on, by telephone and other digital media to promote and sell their products, gain new customers and improve their network of relationships. The digital marketing encompasses the practice of promoting products or services through the use of electronic distribution channels to reach consumers quickly, relevant, personalized and more efficiently.
The Marketing digital contain actions but adapted to the new media channels for the same effectiveness and efficiency of traditional marketing and at the same time enhance the effects of marketing. The key to success is the combination of traditional marketing with new online tools, to develop an e-marketing plan that fits the needs and characteristics of each company.
One of the fields of Digital Marketing fascinates me is Corporative blogs.
A blog, or weblog also known as “surfing diaries”, is a site in an open format with defined periodicity that presents contents of one or more authors on various topics. Content is available chronologically and readers can interact through various tools, however the author or administrator has the autonomy to manage this process. There are several types of blogs: personal journalism, corporate, technological, educational, etc.. The corporate blogs are most relevant to business, are created with the support of businesses, to assist them in achieving their objectives and help to strengthen the brand image, positioning, internal and external communication. A successful example is the Blog of Barbie (dolls) where the manufacturer places the values you want to pass the “mouth” of the dolls themselves, thus achieving better achieve its target segment.
The ease of publishing content on the Internet is transforming the consumer channel of a receiver to a transmitter of information. Since the creation of fan clubs, communities, compliments and complaints, and any information previously restricted to a few, is now public and interferes with the opinion of other consumers. Learning to interact with these consumers is one of the challenges of the current marketing professional.
Marketing trends are changing with the advent of Web 2.0 communication, wikis, social networks, blogs, among others, promoting new interactions of netizens in cyberspace. The new trend of researching markets, promote products, services and corporate brands in this virtual environment is that we can define as the main goal of Digital Marketing.
The new media allow consumers to meet, wrap it and hear it, creating a relationship based on two-way communication with it.
Examples include, among others:
• Social Networks – Today, for example, social networks like Facebook are presented as very important communication channels often ignored by companies. With thousands of registered users is possible by creating applications and dissemination campaigns to establish more lasting connections with consumers, linking profiles, casting discussions and foremost gathering feedback;
• Search Engines – Services like Google Adwords allow the purchase of advertising in the search engine world’s most famous, by introducing certain keywords (among other criteria). A correct choice of keywords and descriptive writing, you can place a brand, product or company, quickly on the path of thousands of internautes and much more examples.
In conclusion, I believe that business development is changing rapidly and causing companies to adapt to a relational model in their marketing strategies, and then enter the internet as a great communication tool.
Its potential is not only the communication and information, but increasingly functions as a selling tool, with numerous advantages and some, greater accessibility because it is available 24 hours, 7 days a week and 365 days a year, in addition to be low cost, and promote interaction with your customers and those who are potential and so on.
