Kortrijk have always seemed a peaceful little town, when nothing important is ever happening. However, about 100.000 people are expected to attend this weekend’s festival – Sinksen 2012. This is a festival related to a religious ceremony in honor of the Holy Spirit. A lot of activities have been prepared for the attendants in the main touristic places of the town: international street theatre and circus performances in the Grote Markt, concerts in Vandaleplein, cultural activities in Houtmarkt. You may also like to check out what’s going on in Schouwburgplein and Begijnhofpark.
There are two music festivals that will take place during this edition of Sinksen, with both local and international artists: Sinksen Track (Muziekcafé Track *) third edition, with a funk/soul/hip- hop parties under the expert guidance of the Brussels On-Point label and Sinxen ( at the Kreun). Band from France, the Netherlands and Spain are expected to perform during the 3 days of festival.
Last but not least, don’t forget to check out the special promotions in the pubs around the city center: Lots of the bar owners decided to offer special prices during the festival, given the high number of attendants. There will be double happy hours, outdoor cocktails & “BLAUW” Bar in Café 56, girls on decks and Zoo Club in moNO, and a beer festival in the Geverfte Flugel.
This is probably the biggest event in Kortrijk before the exam period will start so you should better be there and take advantage of the “typical” fine weather! See you around!
