Staff of the Flemish local transport company De Lijn in Kortrijk went on strike on Monday 21/5/2012 after continuous savers from the government.

The strike lasted for five hours in the noon (between 10.00 – 15.00 o’clock), thing that affected many people, and of course affected me. I am here five months and it is the only time that I realized this kind of problem.

As supported the staff of the company, their salary decreased largely because after the savers, the government stopped to pay the staff appropriate for the overtimes, which they do on weekends and on the holidays. The decreased of salary led to disaffection also in other cities of the Flemish part.

The bus drivers have promised to return to work but the unions asked to converse with the governments to find a best solution for our problems.

As I talked with some bus drivers, the talks between unions and the government didn’t let to agreement so sure they will do more strikes until to find a best solution.
