In Kortrijk is the end of the semester and everyone is at home sweating while trying to understand a hundred pages book that their teacher gave them and thinking “oh i don’t understand it anyway so why don’t I just go out?”. Well the idea of going out meeting your friends in this good weather sound so good, huh?!
We all know that Friday is the best day to go out! So, why don’t have a stop at “DE KREUN” to listen to some relaxing music while drinking cold beer.
Beach House is considered as a dream pop genre band. The reason for that is “the slow-motion beats layered with hazy keyboard drones and rippling guitar figures” and it was formed in 2004 in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. The idea of making the band came when Victoria Legrand (vocals) went to the big states to start a career met Alex Scally. The two worked in a previous band but also did their own recording project – Beach House. The unique about this band is that they use only simple instruments like organ, programmed drums and slide guitar. The band members take that as a challenge and stick to the main idea of their music. In a New York Press interview from 2007 Scally explained the music which Beach House make as “a music based on melody”.
The group’s popularity came in 2009-2010 with their third studio album titled “Teen Dream” which was rated #43 in the US Billboard 200 chart. In other words their dream was starting to come true. After the success of “Teen Dream” the band got much more fans among who are rapper Jay-Z and his wife Beyoncé. The group is popular also with their cover of “Play the Game”, originally performed by the legendary Queen, for the iTunes Store release of Red Hot Organizations’s 2009 compilation “Dark Was The Night”. In the same year the vocalist participated with back vocals in the song of the indie rock band Grizzly Bear “Slow life”, which was featured in the soundtrack of the movie “Twilight: New Moon”.
